

There are multiple characters/quests whose entire appearance is a payoff for shit that happened in the first game. It's still a fun game with memorable characters and good writing, but the context you miss it what elevates it from good to great.

Inquisition's best moments are when it pays off or subverts things you knew before and it does this pretty much constantly from the end of the first act onwards. You can do it, but you miss context that make the dramatic moments hit harder.
